Jagjit Singh started learning Gatka in 1981 from Pritam Singh Pardesi. For further advancement in his skills, he started learning gatka from Master Ranjit Singh ji who is a renowned Gatka teacher as he comes from lineage of teachers who have been teaching gatka since 15th century. In year 2020, Master Ranjit Singh ji passed on his Title to Jagjit Singh ji by handing him all of his belt weapons and his personal teaching stick. Ustaad Jagjit Singh ji is teaching Gatka since 2002 and students who learned from him are now teaching in Gatka schools in India, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. He is now running two research centres in Canada where he along with his team are trying to revive the unique ways to use various weapons during ground battles and horseback. His only motive in life is to maintain the authenticity and preserving the art of Gatka.
